live lou lives

one of my all time favorite live albums (or any album), lou reed's rock and roll animal has been lovingly reunited with it's long lost sibling lou reed live by an incredibly wise fan. separated from each other at birth, an incendiary concert at the Academy of Music in Manhattan on 12.21.73 during an incendiary tour.  this line-up features the searing twin glam guitar work of Detroit shredders Dick Wagner  and Steve Hunter (both also worked with Alice Cooper in the 70s) and Reed's meth'd out yet sardonic vocal delivery and evil joker appearance. the show's recording was hacked into two and sold separately, both with varying production values.  now they've been rejoined in proper setlist order with levels smoothed out for a seamless live listening experience.  now let Lou take you for a walk on the dark side of the 70s.

all ginned up

since one of my favorite tunes of the phish oeuvre got a retooling saturday night in Wookster, I submit what i consider a top-shelf gin of the highest quality, albeit as a remastered AUD.  Disclosure: I was present for the show at the dust-pit known as Portland Meadows, and every relisten gives me goosebumps, not only for flashing back to that time and space, but in response to the effortless majesty of this rendering.  the hose was flowin, mainlining pure musical qi from the universe to our souls. so give it a whirl! and thanks for drivin Jeff!
